These days my obsessions are a little healthier, but just as rampant:
Greek Yogurt/Peaches:
Until 2 weeks ago, I hadn't had either of these foods. On a whim I decided to make a peach cobbler. No idea why. I've been eating a peach every day since then. Last weekend we were in Boston and Emily offered me some Greek yogurt--I was hooked. I am really weird about yogurt; I like to tell myself I enjoy it when really I'm just choking it down because I think it's good for me. Hopefully that's not the case with this because as you can see, I got a little ahead of myself with my purchases.
Man vs. Food:

This show fascinates me and I have absolutely no idea why. If you've never seen it, it's all about this guy who goes around the world trying to take on ridiculous food challenges, like eating a 6 pound burger or 9 milkshakes plus a pound of fries in an hour. It's totally disgusting to watch and I wonder how the host hasn't had a heart attack yet. But watching it with Mike inevitably leads to me making some bold claim about how I could win one of the challenges, until my darling husband reminds me how much dairy is actually in 4 gallons of ice cream. They filmed an episode in Richmond and we watched it, star-struck. We found the restaurant and I've dared Mike to take the challenge, which was eating a bunch of realllllyyyy hot chicken wings. He has not accepted my challenge yet.
Costco:

We do not have a membership to Costco. I want one. All of a sudden I am dead-set on getting into that megastore, but I think it's just because you need a special card to get in. I've been bugging Mike for weeks about it--would it save us money? Or would I just run around and buy way more stuff than we could ever need? I think we all know the answer.
Mike plays along with all my quirks, but he knows he's still my favorite obsession :)
We go to BJ's (because we don't have a Costco in Mechanicsville) and save money on just the things we eat a lot of: chicken, PB&J, Kudo's, chips and dip...... worth it for things you buy all the time!
ReplyDeleteYou should see the peaches at the Manassas farmer's market. They are bigger than my man hands!
ReplyDeleteThat seems to be the opinion of everyone I've talked to--stock up on the non-perishables and save tons of money!
ReplyDeleteAnd my mom is making me edit this by saying that she did offer me peaches as a child but I did not eat them. You're welcome.
