5 Years of Dedicated Excellence

Today is a very special day. 5 years ago today, Mike and I went on our first date:

Ok, no. This wasn't taken on our first date. It was, in fact, taken a few years into the relationship, at an 80's party. But it sums us up pretty well. (Check out Mike's mowhawk, and my crimped ponytail. Jealous yet?)

Our first date consisted of dinner at Sticky Rice, this amazing sushi restaurant in the Fan district of Richmond. The food was delicious, the conversation was easy, he paid; it all fell into place. 5 years later, here we are.
With all the craziness that has been going on in our lives lately (closing is in 2 weeks!) it's no surprise that both of us seemed to forget that today was such a monumental occasion. But at my request, Mike brought us right back to that first date, all in the comfort of our apartment.
As I'm sure most of you know, Mike is an amazing cook. And I'm not just saying that because I hate cooking; the boy can legitimately make some meals. So when I asked him to make sushi (like on our first date, awwww) he obliged. I bought him a sushi kit a few years back and he has been honing his skills as an Iron Chef ever since:

Pure Deliciousness
As you can see, I am a lucky girl. Here's to many, many more years of delicious eating. And maybe some other good stuff too :)

  4. I'm still rubbing my stomach from all the sushi. And yes Lauren, there was some pineapple and tofu :) Let's just hope the wedding dress still fits...
