Yesterday was the start of Lent. Traditionally one gives up something they really enjoy from Ash Wednesday up until Easter, which is a period of 40 days.
One year I gave up Taco Bell. That was HARD. For a few years I should have owned stock in the Bell because of how frequently I ate there.
Last year I tried to give up swearing. I love swearing. No, it's not lady-like but I have a temper and sometimes it gets the best of me. Made it about 2 days before I slipped up but I stuck with it.
This year, I'm going for broke.
I'm giving up soda. Yikes.
I can't and won't give up caffeine entirely. I need the morning jolt of coffee. Otherwise I will be crraannkkyyy.
In high school I would drink about 6 sodas a day, or polish off a liter while sitting in homeroom. I've cut this back in recent years but this will definitely be a challenge for me.
Wish me luck!

Good luck! I was an all-day every day Diet Coke drinker, and when we started trying to get pregnant, I thought it would be better to combat the caffeine withdrawl then rather than wait until I was also fighting morning sickness. I'm soooo glad I did, but I still have to have at least one a day. I'm no saint. ;)
ReplyDeleteOy, can't even imagine no soda for 9 months.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I figured if I have to give up beer for 9 months, I have to be able to hold onto my beloved Diet Coke at least partially.
